Kosher Cooking Carnival – April 2013

The Kosher Cooking Carnival is hosted by a different kosher food writer each month and this is the third time I am hosting the round up on my site.   The carnival is arranged by Batya of Shiloh Musings and many of the contributing foodies also live in Israel.  All the recipes are kosher and will often reflect seasonal holidays or celebrations.  With that being so, some of the recipes might be [...]

Recipe Roundup: Meatless Meals (July 2012)

I’m not sure where the month went, but with the 100+ degree weather we’ve been suffering through the thought of soup around the fire place is much more appealing than outdoor grilling.  At home, our eating has adapted to the heat with cooler, light meals like my personal pita pizzas, hot nutty cabbage salad and last night’s awesome felafel salad.   I enjoy the summer flavors foodie bloggers have been experimenting [...]

Oat Soup (Gluten Free & Dairy Free)

Congratulations to Janet and Gina, winners of my Povitica giveaway!  Thank you all for your entries!  Next month I’ll be giving away a copy of The Vegan Slow Cooker. Oat Soup sounds strange to me and I can not take credit for this recipe, but while my mother visited a few months ago, we politely agreed to allow her to make this soup for dinner one night.  I am glad [...]

The Best Chicken Soup Ever

Sunday didn’t really go quite a planned.  We didn’t learn how to can our own produce at the farm.  We didn’t make it to the Truman Museum or Clinton’s Soda Factory in Independence, MO.  We did not even make it to a movie.  Stomach flu kept my wife in bed and at 8.00 am I found myself in Whole Foods buying organic, local produce so I could get fresh chicken soup [...]
